Free writing

I love this course, not just because of Elizabeth's caring and inspiring attitude, but also because of the useful things we learn. One such thing is free writing. Free writing, put simply, is writing continuously for a set period of time. You don't worry about spelling, grammar or even making sense.

Often when I'm writing, I reach a point where I can't decide how to best express myself and grind to a halt. With free writing, you write whatever comes into your head and although it doesn't read well at first, it helps you to form a clearer idea of what you want to say. You can then use the text as notes for what you originally wanted to write, making it much easier to plan and put ideas together.

Have you tried free writing? Is it useful to you as it was to me?
